Skill Contest:
Objective The party will work together to use skill checks to complete the scene. The goal is to get five successes before reaching three failures.
Procedure The scene will evolve and change as every check is made. Each skill can only be used once. This represents the group's best attempt at using the skill. The player must describe how the chosen skill relates to the scene, or how it will be used to help complete the current challenge, and if DM approved as a plausible way to use it, the check is rolled.
Example A party has just defeated the Evil Lord and is trying to escape from his crumbling castle. As the flee from his chamber, rocks begin falling from the castle ceiling. The party ranger decides to use survival to establish a sense of direction toward the entryway, to avoid tunnels where rocks have fallen in already. The check is rolled, and pass or fail the scene moves on with the party either finding some of their way and running into a new challenge, or failing, and trying to figure out something else that might work. If five successes are reached, the party escapes. If three failures occur before five successes are reached, the challenge is failed, and the party suffers as a result.
